IBUKI’S CONCERT
What’s all the buzz at Ibuki’s latest gig? Are you scrambling to help sell tickets / merch, part of security, or just here to assuage your loneliness after getting stood up (looks like you have an extra ticket now..)? I hear that there’s been a lack of backstage crew, and rumours that Ibuki’s special guest is someone you can’t miss!

RIKU’S BARTERING POST
You hear that a mysterious boy traveling between worlds has set up a trading post in a secret hideaway. Maybe you find yourself stumbling across Riku’s shop by accident, or maybe you’re already here with a purpose – to trade something you truly value, for something you need in return. Will you give him what he asks for, or will someone else help you make the right decision?

OTA !!
Mayaka is standing outside the venue by herself. She's dressed in a pink blouse and her favourite pair of overalls, and had made an effort to wear a nice hairclip and style her chin-length hair for the date.
"Fuku-chan...." she sighs to herself. Of course, Satoshi had double-booked himself and is now busy putting out fires at his part time job. This is the first time it's happened, so she won't be too hard on him. But that guy is always trying to get so much done, like he's collecting as many experiences as he can before he graduates high school. Mayaka just wants to get high school over and done with so she can fully focus on her art. She just wanted a nice, normal night with the guy she likes!
She spots someone else hanging around outside the theatre and walks up to them, holding the extra ticket in her hand.
"Excuse me, I've got an extra ticket for the magic show, if you'd like to use it." She offers it to them.
02 PART-TIMING @ THE CONCERT
Summer should be spent going to the beach, travelling, making memories with your friends. For Mayaka Ibara, summer is spent between part time jobs, scrapping enough money together to buy a fancy new drawing tablet so that she can learn how to draw manga digitally.
This is how she finds herself at the backstage corridors of the biggest concert arena in the city, struggling to carry a box of bottled water to deliver to the crew.
"After this I need to go help with ushering or was it the merch table..." she mumbles to herself, teetering back and forth given the weight of the carton she's carrying and the smallness of her frame.
As she rounds a corner, she doesn't realise that someone else is walking by and accidentally bumps into them. The box tumbles out of her arms, and bottles of water roll across the floor.
"Argh! Sorry about that!" she shouts in exasperation, getting down to pick them up without bothering to see who she ran into.

OTA
Glory wanders around the city, amazed by the sights and sounds of the cars that passed and the dazzling light displays. It's all so grand, compared to the sleepy fishing village she grew up in. She's still not quite sure where she is exactly, but she'll figure that out later. Maybe after she's found something to eat.
A sign catches her eye as she walks past. She stops to read it, and furrows her brow. Not only because it takes her awhile to decipher the letters, but because this isn't something she's heard of before.
"Magic show? What's that?" she asks aloud to no one in particular.

01 - sorry for the delay!!
"Oho!" Someone who isn't familiar with a magic show makes for easy prey (in trickery, of course, nothing so unbecoming). Magilou smiles, the corners of her mouth turning up in feigned surprise. "Not familiar with the concept?"
Magilou spins on her heels, a full clockwise rotation without a single slip-up or twisted angle. She throws her left arm out, and from the depths of her sleeves, confetti sprays out like a fountain - gold, pink, and purple strips, something more akin to an awards ceremony than a carnival sideshow act.
Not content with just thieving the show, Magilou also steals a glance at the girl's ears. "Curiosity killed the cat, you know. Still want to learn more? Lucky for you, you're speaking to a wonderfully wondrous witch!"
omg i luv her already
"Magic as a concept? Sounds pretty normal to me," she replies the witch. If Glory had her scholar's tome with her, she could summon a fairy to demonstrate. Though somehow, this skill she's trained hard to hone seems so boring compared to what this stranger with the gigantic pink hat just did.
"It's so normal that I don't know what's there to 'show' y'see," she continues, tapping her finger on her chin.
And Glory doesn't bother to correct Magilou to explain she's a Miqo'te, not a cat. No, she's much more interested in finding out more about what's been offered.
"Hasn't killed me yet, so sign me up!"
no subject
"A real savant, aren't you?" she says, catching one of the last stray pieces of confetti from the air. "There's all kinds of magic. Spells, prestidigitation, hexes, curses, sleight of hand. Of course, my repertoire isn't so limited."
For all of Magilou's bluster, the way that she carries herself - shifting her weight from left foot to right, pulling out her paper talismans with uncharacteristic care - it's clear that she isn't exaggerating about her magic. She's a strong magician, with a powerful innate ability that other magic users could likely sense.
And yet, she uses it for the dumbest things.
"You asked for it, then!" She spins on her heels again, and spreads her paper talismans between her fingers like a deck of cards. "We're going to introduce a little friendly competition to the little magician here, and you'll be the sidekick! An up close and personal lesson!"
no subject
She nods as Magilou goes on to list her talents, even though she has not heard of prestigidi.. digi.. whatever that word is. Maybe she'll ask about it if it comes up again. For now, she can definitely sense the strong aether, or flow of magic, around this chatty witch.
Does this person have bad intentions? Possibly. But probably not. If one were to use confetti tricks as a judge of character, then Magilou passed with flying colours. Also, those papar tailsmans are interesting. How do they work?
"Sounds fun!" Glory agrees with Magilou's proposal easily, unable to turn down the opportunity to learn new magic. And just as they finish this back and forth, she notices the crowd that had been flowing into the theatre has finally thinned. They've got to get in before the show starts!
"Excuse me, can we get two tickets to this show?" Glory approaches the ticket counter to ask.
The staff is too busy counting a thick wad of money to look at her as he replies: "'Fraid we're sold out. Trucy's real popular. If you want, you can get tickets for the one happening three weeks from now."
"Three weeks?!" Her ears droop at this devastating news.
no subject
The crowd is large and it somehow feels like the entrance to the theater will swallow them up as they walk forward. Peeking in on her as-yet-unknown rival is going to be a challenge if they can't even see the stage from the back of the theater.
...Or so Magilou first thinks, but her plans are instantly dashed. Three weeks? Three weeks, he said. Magilou can't help the surprised cry that leaves her body, sounding more like a dying duck than a human. She can't wait for three weeks just to see what the competition is like. This calls for a new line of thinking. Magilou turns to exit the theater.
"Okay, that's it! I give up! Scouting out the competition is a waste of time with the magnanimous Magilou on board. We're going to open our own show! Today!"
Yes, she said we.
both of them using 'heh' is too cute (╥ ᴗ ╥)
"Magilou!" she claps once when she realises that this the stranger's name. Though she still has no idea what happens during a magic show, she's quick to add: "We can call it The Glory and Magilou show."
Because alphabetically, G comes before M, after all. So taken by the idea, Glory has momentarily forgotten she's supposed to be sidekick.
The catgirl stands next to Magilou, drawing the palm of her right hand out towards the evening sky, already imagining how the name might look up in lights, similar to Trucy's Magic Show.
"So... what do we do now?"
the wavelength......
In contrast to Glory's stretch up to the sky, Magilou crosses her arms and shoots what she hopes is her most authoritative glare. Braver men have quaked under her gaze. "You are not upstaging me at my own show! What do I look like, a cantankerous comedian? Magilou's Menagerie is the real deal, not some two-bit carnival curiosity! Leave the headlining to me, and we'll knock 'em dead."
She glances around the town square for signs of life and hints of comedic potential, a vulture searching for carrion. Eclectic decorations, disparate clothing styles... There's no common culture here, it seems, so she's starting from scratch. She needs to see what she's working with.
"How're your comedy chops?"
no subject
Having her fair share of experience trading and bartering for the Guild, she knows how it can be with business-minded folk. She has to at least try to sell her offerings a bit better. "I can hold my breath underwater for at least 5 minutes!" She raises her index finger and smiles proudly at this fact.
How this relates to magic, or performance, escapes her, but it is something she can boast about.
More importantly, after sharing this talent, Glory adds: "So if you're headliner, what's the profit split gonna be?"
(This catgirl still cares about renumeration after all!)
1/2 (sorry for the wait!)
Magilou doesn't often make people laugh on purpose, either, even when she's trying, but that's fine."Marvelous! Magnificent! Magnanimous! Five minutes is three-hundred seconds longer than my last little assistant could muster. Honestly, he really wasn't a good sport." Magilou's tone is entirely too cheerful, all showmanship and vigor. No matter what Glory's answer would have been, its fairly clear that Magilou's response would have been the same. Is she just this excited, or just so desperate?
Whatever the case, Magilou starts to walk toward a clearing in the nearby courtyard to stake out as their own. Most of the patrons have filtered inside the theater by now, so there are few remaining passerby to watch their preparations, but maybe they can get some interest here...
"Y'see, putting on a good show is half spectacle, and half slapstick. You have to be able to direct the audience's gaze, and then take them somewhere they'd never imagine. Comedy chops are as important in commanding the stage as they are in brushing off a battle!"
At least Glory has her head on straight - the most important question! Magilou grins. "Well, I'm quite magnanimous. We'll go with a nice and fair profit split..."
2/2
this is a blast !! worth the wait (˶◜ᵕ◝˶) 1/2
She considers Magilou's counter offer quite seriously, crossing her arms as she thinks hard about it. Magilou seems to be starting from scratch here in this empty courtyard, and Glory is an essential part of her plan. It wouldn't hurt to ask for a better profit split, at least, better than what she gets from her regular work at the Arcanist's Guild!

"Ninety-five? What do I look like, a court jester?"
Not that the outfit is convincing."We're not doing this for free! There's the admin upkeep, the overhead costs, the dry cleaning fees, the live animal handling license applications, and the life insurance for accidents and incidentals. Do those mean nothing to you?!"She's absolutely playing it up for the (metaphorical) camera. The few stragglers that have remained outside of the theater's entrance start to turn their heads in curiosity, caught by Magilou's fake anguish and despair over Glory daring to ask for a pittance. Magilou readjusts her pose, throwing her arm over her head, a fainting maiden retiring to her royal chambers.
"Ninety-seven to three. That's the most I can budge on this. Deal?"
no subject
She's glad to be even getting anything out of this random sidequest, frankly. The concept of insurance is lost on her (because it doesn't exist where she comes from) but if it's part of the package it must be good.
"What're your instructions, boss?"
no subject
"Pleasure doing business!" Magilou reciprocates the handshake with enthusiasm, sending their linked hands ricocheting up and down in the air between them. "You're an official part of Magilou's Menagerie, an exclusive club of ne'er-do-wells and care-do-wells. Now, for your first official task..."
Magilou glances around. The crowd of onlookers has grown somewhat, caught by Magilou's loud voice and backdoor business deals in plain sight. What would be the right angle for an eclectic crowd?
"Props! There's no such thing as magic without a conduit, and there's no such thing as comedy without a pitch. Find the biggest things you can carry and bring 'em home to send 'em reeling!"
Whatever Glory brings, Magilou can run with. As long as it's not, like, living animals.
no subject
"Ah-ha! That!" Her tail flicks with excitement as she finally spots something that they can use, and runs off to pick it up and bring it back to Magilou.
"Here!"
She plants the fancy wooden A-frame signboard between both of them. It reads:
"Be enthralled by Trucy's Magic Show! Only in theatres!"
Some of the passer-bys notice this and start whispering between themselves. "Are they doing the pre-show out here? They don't look as cute as Trucy."
no subject
By the time Glory gets back, Magilou has dusted the area in a thin layer of glittering pinks and purples, which has caught the attention of some onlookers.
"You're back!" she cries, all theatrics and over-exaggeration - meant, of course, to get the crowd to stare between them. And though Magilou merely nods when Glory tosses the signboard between them both, the second that she reads the text - and hears their audience chatter amongst themselves - she visibly deflates, contorting herself into a crumpled heap of a witch while somehow still standing.
Not as cute, hmm? She'll have to work some magic here (even not so literally). Her voice booms when she speaks up, loud enough to drown out the distant, cartoonish sounds of Trucy's magic show inside the theater.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Fair-do-wells and ne'er-do-wells! You are here to witness history. For today is the debut performance of the greatest magic act this side of town and globe! Witness, if you dare, the enchanting, illuminating performance of Mistress Magilou and her adorable assistant!"
Not-so-subtly, she nudges Glory with her elbow. Introductions from the cute assistant are in order, after all!
no subject
This unwelcome memory is heavy in her chest, but the mi'qote takes a deep breath before raising herself to meet the eyes of the onlookers. Magilou has managed to corral a surprising number of people around their makeshift stage of pink and purple glitter, and Glory doesn't want all this effort to go to waste.
"Glory Lightpaw here, at your service!"
She does a little twirl on the spot as an extra flourish, though this makes her cringe inwardly as it borders too close to dance for her liking.
As the onlookers start to debate where her green ears and tail are actually real, Glory returns the nudge to Magilou, perhaps a bit too forcefully out of excitement.
"You got a marker up your sleeves, or something?" she asks in a low whisper. Her gaze bounces between Magilou and the inaccurately-titled signboard.
